Joe Hatzer and Son, Inc. is a family owned and operated business located in Streator, Illinois. The services offered by our company include excavation, hydraulic crane service, ready-mixed concrete, septic installations, aerobic waste treatment systems, septic and aerobic system maintenance, and portable toilet services.
Our business was founded in 1943 by Joe Hatzer, who started a cabinet shop in his basement. In 1956 he built our present office building and worked as a general contractor building many residential and commercial buildings in Streator and the surrounding area. in 1962 he was joined by his son, Dennis Hatzer, the current president of the company. At this time, the business started doing excavation work along with the general contracting aspect of the business. Eventually the business grew and did only excavation projects and no longer performed as general contracting.
In 1982, our company accepted a franchise to install Multi-Flo and Nayadic aerobic waste water treatment systems. These systems are sold and installed by us. We also offer service contracts to assure their proper operation. We recently installed our 1000th unit.
In 1991, we had the opportunity to purchase a ready-mix concrete business located in Streator. Since our purchase we have made many upgrades to the business. The plant is now a very modern, efficient operation.
We recently installed an additional silo enabling us to furnish fly ash with our mix when the mix design requires it.
In 2005, a new shop building was added to our main location for equipment maintenance, and we employ a full time mechanic to assure that our equipment is maintained properly.
We operate a union shop, employing operators, teamsters and laborers. We currently have eighteen employees including Dennis Hatzer, President and his wife Sandra Hatzer, Secretary-Treasurer. Also, included as employees are Dennis and Sandra's son, Jeffrey, an operating engineer and supervisor on construction projects. and daughter, Denise, who is office manager.

EXCAVATION
We provide excavation services for both residential and commercial projects including site work, storm and sanitary sewer installations. We have hydro-hammer services for concrete breaking and removal, including trucking with both semi and tandem trucks.
CRANE SERVICE
We have available a 30 ton Terex mobile truck crane for rent with an operator on a hourly basis.

DEMOLITION
We do building and structure demolition both commercial and residential. Jeff Hatzer is trained in the provisions of 40 CFR Part 61, Subpart M on our team, who is available to be on site during commercial demolition projects as required by the Illinois EPA.
WASTE WATER TREATMENT SYSTEMS
We are a licensed waste water treatment system contractor. We can provide a solution for any waste water project, both residential and commercial. We do conventional septic systems, raised filter beds, and aerobic waste treatment systems. We are the authorized representative for Multi-Flo and Nayadic aerobic waste treatment units, and have been installing and servicing these units since 1982. We provide pumping services for septic tanks and aerobic systems plus inspections for real estate sales.
PORTABLE TOILETS
We offer portable toilet rentals for construction projects, community events or home use. We have regular portable toilets, handicapped portable toilets, and hand wash units for weekly or monthly rental. We strive to furnish clean units at all times. Weekly servicing of the toilets are included in the rental fee. Upon request, additional cleaning of the toilets can be done at an additional cost.

We operate a full service ready-mix concrete plant located in Streator. We use only State Approved materials in our mix designs. We have the capabilities to supply ready-mixed concrete as per your mix designs.
